The boys participated in our pack/troops pinewood derby tonight. It was a small group with only seven boys racing. But they had a good time - and they had a great time with their dad building their cars.

We planted our garden the other night. The boys actually had a great time helping - though they weren't to sure at first.  They loved being able to dig the holes, then pop the plant out of the pot, put it in the whole, place the dirt around the plant and finally water the newly planted plant. They kept asking if we had more to plant so they could keep digging. To bad they don't enjoy weeding as much!!! :)
The tomatoes.

The peppers.

The Broccoli.

The sweet peas. Yum!!

It has been awhile since I have updated this journal page. We have had lot going on around here. For St. Patrick's Day we celebrated with green cookies. K.J. wanted green food coloring in the dough - so that's what we did.

We also made a trip to the zoo for St. Patrick's. The kids were on Spring Break, so we went down for the day. We had a great time.

On the Saturday before Easter we spent sometime dying Easter eggs. We also had a visit from the bunny and made a bunny shaped cake for dessert on Sunday- yum!!

And for Good Friday we went to the Science Center for the day. We played with bubbles built rockets and an arch. We had a great day and the boys are excited about going again sometime.

Fourth Grade Recognition!!

Yesterday was J.D.'s fourth grade graduation/recognition. Here in our district, children move to middle school starting with the fifth grade. So each year the fourth graders have a special program at the end of the school year in honor of the completion of elementary school.

On the Mississippi!!!!

Last weekend we had the opportunity to go to Nauvoo for a regional LDSFSA Adoption confrence. We got the chance to see old friends, meet new ones, and attend classes on various aspects of adoption and related issues. We had a great time. Our family also took sometime to be tourists while we were there. The boys loved it. K.J.'s favorite visit was the blacksmith shop. J.D.'s favorite was the fudge factory and the red brick store (i.e. the rock candy). My husband and I also were able to tour a few sights that we hadn't been through before. It was a really fun weekend for all of us - even with the long drive to and from home.

The boys are already asking when we will get to go to Nauvoo again. They are hoping soon!:)

Let's Go Dutch!!!

Guess Where We Are?????

If you guessed Holland/Netherlands - you'd be wrong!

The Saturday before Mother's Day we attended "Tulip Time." It is an annual event held in a community two hours from us. The town was originally a Dutch settlement. Along with the tulips the town has the largest working windmill in the US, lots of little shops, a parade, and dutch food!!:) (if you ever get the chance to try a "dutch letter," don't pass it up!! YUMMMMMM!!!!:)!) It was a very family friendly event; and, despite the cold, we had a great time. Maybe we'll do it again next year?!:)
